The University of Liverpool will help allocate more than a million pounds in funding to help 250 Liverpool graduates and post-graduates win work placements in the city and boost local businesses' competitiveness.
The £1.4 million scheme will provide placements for around six months for those who have studied in the city, benefiting graduates from the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool Hope University, and graduates returning to the region. The aim is to help retain graduates in Merseyside and improve their employability through more work experience.
Graduate to Merseyside, which involves chambers of commerce, inward investment body The Mersey Partnership, Business Link and Culture Campus offers internships focused on priority business sectors.
The sectors included in the three-year European Regional Development Fund-supported scheme include advanced engineering and materials, biomedicine, business and professional services, energy and environmental technologies, food and drink, social enterprise organisations and the creative industries.
