Their portfolio of clients covers diverse areas such as National Security and the Public Sector, through to commercial industries such as Telecommunications, Utilities and Pharmaceuticals. Their services include business consulting, software and hardware development, technical consultancy and complex data analytics work.
Our client's Homeland Security Business Unit provides consultancy services to government agencies whose purpose is to protect the homeland. They specialise in looking for patterns and anomalies in large datasets and writing code to detect those patterns and anomalies. Our client is looking for 10 Data Analytical and Senior Analytical Consultants based in either London or Manchester.
As a Consultant you will develop analytical solutions for clients either on client site or working closely with the client, with minimum supervision and alongside both the clients business and technical staff. The successful candidate will work in teams of 3 to 5 people on projects that last between 2 and 8 months. The projects can take on a national significance and will involve writing systems and models to analyse large datasets. You will be recognised as owning projects, including responsibility for defining the technical solution for data problems.
The role will lead to the relevant professional qualifications and training in new and existing statistical and analytical technologies. Career progression can be rapid and will lead from consultant to senior consultant, principle consultant and then senior management. However if you already have the experience and skills you can start as a senior or principle consultant. The client has a large technical resource which is used to support the employees in their development.
Responsibilities include:
- Management of business critical standalone analytical projects of a national significance
- Statistical problem analysis of client issues project and work to create an analytical solution
- Definition of a technical solution from poorly defined requirements to help shape the solution for the customer
- Writing analytical code in SAS, SQL, SPSS, S+ or R (training provided where necessary).
Requirements:
- At least 12 months experience in a statistical, data analytical, mathematical modelling or consultancy
- At least 320 UCAS points
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience of being responsible for the delivery of a small work stream (ideally leading a small team)
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to present complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
- Understanding of existing and emerging data analytics and processing technologies
- Due to the nature of the being defence related the candidates must be British Nationals
- Maths, Science, Engineering or Business related degree 2:1.
