1. Organise a Night Out!
End your term with a festive bang and get a big group of you together for a cheesy Christmas night out. Lots of club nights will have Christmas themed nights, great for drunken sing-a-longs to all the Xmas classics. Who doesn't love a bit of Mariah...
2. Get Festive!
Get into the festive spirit and organise a Christmas meal with your housemates. You can look up student Christmas meals online to ensure it will be affordable, but taste just as good as the real deal at home! Organise a Secret Santa, get your woolly jumpers on, play some Christmas classics on the iPod and get cooking! It will make you feel Christmassy and will be a nice way to end the term with your housemates. If you want to go all out, buy a mini Christmas tree and decorate the sitting room with some cheap tinsel too to get you all in the mood!
3. Get In Touch With Your Friends!
Give your friends from home a call and find out when they finish for the holiday. Then you can make plans to see them as soon as you get home which will give you something to look forward to.
4. Library Books?
You will probably have exam revision or essays to do over the holiday, so take any books out from the library that you may need in advance before your course mates get them first!
5. Need a Reference From Your Lecturer?
If you're thinking of getting a job over the Christmas holiday, it's worth asking your lecturer to write you a quick reference, if it's requested on job application forms.
6. Get Cleaning.
Find an evening when you and your housemates are free and dedicate that night to a ruthless communal cleaning session. Your house will undoubtedly be in need of a good clean. Assign each other cleaning duties - someone clean the bathroom, someone can do the hoovering etc, and plug your iPod into some speakers to make the job a little more bearable! Think of it as house bonding...
7. Empty All The Bins!
Very important. Empty every single bin in the house on the very last day, otherwise you may attract some unwanted animals, and by that I mean rats. Yes, it happens.
8. Finish Your Food.
You will need to make sure your fridges are empty before you leave, so avoid doing a food shop in your last week and survive off the remaining bits you have in your fridge and food cupboards to get you through the last few days. You won't want to waste your precious student loan on food that won't get eaten!
9. Maintenance Checks?
Before you leave the house, don't forget to do the routine maintenance checks: check that all the heating is turned off, close all the windows and lock the bedroom doors. You won't want to end up paying for heating when you weren't even in the house...
10. Inform Your Landlord/Agency That You Will Be Away.
Make sure to tell your landlord or lettings agency when you and your housemates will be away, so they can do safety checks when the house is empty.
That's all folks, can you think of anymore?
