Formula Student is a project for engineering students to design and build a small single-seat racing car. The project usually forms part of the Mechanical Engineering department's academic studies, and culminates in a competition where teams involving hundreds of students from all over the world come together to compete against each other. Restrictions are placed on the car frame and engine so the students' knowledge, creativity, and imagination are tested.
The vehicles are judged in three different categories: static inspection and engineering design, solo performance trials, and high-performance track endurance. Imperial's first design entry came first in 2001 with a score of 100%.
Formula Student is organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). Its official partners are SAE and, as of 2003, IEE.
Who are Imperial College London'
Imperial aims to produce well educated and innovative graduates with the potential to become leaders in their chosen branches of the profession. With over 10,000 students, Imperial is amongst the largest science and technology based universities in Europe.

What can you do for us'
Formula Student at Imperial College does not benefit from being principally funded by the University. As a result, we must find our funding in the form of corporate sponsorship. Sponsors in the past have made donations of between £1000-£5000, or provided discounted tools, components and materials.
We are currently seeking any contributions in the region of £500-£5000.
What can we do for you'
Formula student is a trophy project at Imperial. The car is a well known sight around the department and the college. Sponsoring our formula student project will provide you with a cost-effective means of raising your company's profile directly to soon-to-graduate students from the top University for Mechanical Engineering in the UK.
