Recent research by the government has suggested that it can take graduates up to four years after graduation to feel job satisfaction with good pay and prospects so don't worry about being left behind. It can be easy to avoid the question of what you will do when you finish university, it feels like such a big decision which is usually stressful and confusing. You know you should do something relevant to your degree and something you enjoy, but where do you start? If you are experiencing career confusion then make sure you sign up to graduate recruitment agencies that are willing to talk to you and match you up with the kind of work that will suit your skills. Helpful recruitment agencies will be able to provide you help with your CV and tailor it to specific job roles that you are interested in and also with important interview techniques. You could be one of the lucky ones who has not particularly put any thought into you're graduate career but find work quickly in the subject that you did your degree in. But of course it's not always like that as for the majority of graduates, your dream job won't come knocking on your door. It is completely normal to be anxious about not knowing what to do next, its important to realise you are in the same position as the majority of recent graduates. Remember your first job should not be a life or death decision its just way of moving your aspirations forward and to get the ball rolling. Set aside some time to think about your dream graduate job. The experts say that the more time you spend thinking about it the more likely you are to start to follow your heart and find something you enjoy. A lack of direction and planning can result in realising a few years down the line that you have chosen the wrong career. The main reason that stops graduates from going for what they want is that they aren't clear on what they want to do. If they are, then they don't know how to make it a reality and also the fear of failure can put obstacles in the way of dreams. However it is all down to the individual to make this decision it's your life and your career path, and even though graduate recruitment agencies can help match you up to suitable careers it is ultimately your personal motivation that counts.
