The pub company has launched its Capital Builder scheme, which will give people the opportunity to take on a pub for around ??5,000.

Suzy Jackson, the company's letting director, said the scheme was aimed at bringing new talent into the industry.

There are some 236 pubs available under the scheme, including city centre bars, with more than 25% of the sites having an earning potential of up to ??30,000.

Ms Jackson said they recognised that there are a lot of entrepreneurs without the commercial experience or financial backing to take on a pub.

The new scheme would enable them to recruit and train talented, committed licensees who are right for the company's pubs and passionate about developing their businesses, she added.

Under the recruitment scheme, licensees will build up capital based on beer volumes until they earn ownership of their fixtures and fittings, as well as enough for a cash deposit.

Graduates will initially pay Punch ??5,000 for training and cash-flow, but will be able to make up to ??18,000 over two-and-a-half years, according to the company.
