An industry body has predicted as many as 3,500 graduate jobs could be created in the UK games sector after the Government announced a tax break for developers.
Tiga, which was only formed 10 years ago, claimed the decision would "more than pay for itself".
"We predict over the next five years tax relief should result in the creation of 3,500 graduate level jobs, another ??457m of investment into the sector, and ??415m in tax receipts for the Treasury," said chief executive Richard Wilson.
The organisation, which represents an industry thought to be worth in excess of ??1 billion, has lobbied the Government for many months over the break, arguing it was unfair that the film production companies, worth less to the economy, were given tax incentives while game developers were not.
The first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 recently made more than ??330 million during its first five days of release - significantly more than that made by popular films like the Dark Knight and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
