The expansion of a computer software firm in Ireland is set to create 80 jobs in Donegal, it has been revealed.

The expansion of a computer software firm in Ireland is set to create 80 jobs in Donegal, it has been revealed.

The growth at the Sita plant in Letterkenny was welcomed by Tanaiste Mary Coughlan who said it would bring high-value jobs to the area.

She added that the investment was an endorsement of Letterkenny's significance as an area for potential international investment.

She said: "It demonstrates Sita's confidence in the area's ability to support its knowledge-intensive and highly-skilled activities."

Sita is the world's leading specialist in air transport communications and IT solutions. It is owned by air industry members, including airlines, airports and transport organisations.

Sita products are used in all aspects of air transport from reservation web bookings and ticketing, through check-in, border management and baggage tracking, to departures and in-flight communications.

Francesco Violante, Sita chief executive, said: "The quality of the work done here in Letterkenny is outstanding and we are delighted at the opportunity to fill these new positions and cement our ties with the local community."
