Science and technology graduates stand a better chance of getting a better-paid job, according to the Association for Graduate Recruiters.
Chief executive Carl Gilleard says that despite the recession, skills gained on technical degree courses are still very much in demand.
He says that not only do opportunities still exist in the engineering and IT sectors, but employers are actively seeking candidates for next year.
He says: "I was at a meeting of 12 or 13 firms looking to recruit engineers, and I would definitely say that the mood was fairly upbeat. There was no air of depression in the room. There is still a demand for good graduate engineers."
Meanwhile, according to UK Net Guide, arts and humanities graduates may be having to accept lower salaries.
