Royal Mail's main competition has revealed plans to boost its workforce and invest millions into improving its postal service. TNT Post will enhance its processing and sorting technology with a ??3 million investment and increase its staff numbers by a fifth. The service, which handles 280 million items monthly, is also looking to improve its regional presence through the moves. It expects to have more than 1,000 employees in the UK following the recruitment drive, including new client managers and operational staff, which could benefit graduates and job seekers throughout the country. The business has a network of five regional offices and will extend this to cover a new hub in Northern Ireland in the autumn. It is also looking for a central distribution hub to boost efficiency and increase its capacity. The Dutch-owned firm has won business from high-profile customers including Centrica and BT since entering the UK market six years ago.
