Media graduates are set to do battle in a race to scoop one of two coveted paid work placements at Scottish Television.

Media graduates are set to do battle in a race to scoop one of two coveted paid work placements at Scottish Television.

Available to graduates from four Scottish Universities, the placements will offer an invaluable insight into a thriving national TV station.

STV's news team will take on one of the graduates while the other will help to dictate the television firms content.

An STV spokesperson said: "During the placements, the graduates will work as integral parts of STV's highly-skilled content and news teams, gaining hands-on experience in production, development, ideas pitching, newsgathering and planning."

Both placements will last six months and are open to graduates at the University of the West of Scotland, Glasgow Caledonian University, Edinburgh Napier University and Robert Gordon University.

The content placement is open to fourth-year students studying BA (Hons) Broadcast Production and Filmmaking & Screenwriting while the news placement will be available to fourth-year undergraduate students from Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC)-accredited journalism courses.

Students will be invited to apply for the placements through their universities, and STV will hold a practical creative competition to select the two successful students.
