With unemployment among graduates leaving thousands out of work and under pressure to find a graduate job, Cardiff University has launched an employability skills course designed to give unemployed graduates the skills they need to find a job.
Cardiff University is offering free guidance that identifies personal preferences, strengths and skills over a three day period to help jobseekers market themselves with skills that meet the needs of employers.
The university's Centre for Lifelong Learning partnered with the Careers Service to create the course and Dr Richard Evans, dean of lifelong learning, has commented on the plans saying that: "The partnership is a commonsense approach to supporting unemployed graduates. It's the perfect marriage of careers advice and training."
Les Rees, director of Cardiff University's Careers Service, said: "We care about the future of our students and want to do all we can to prepare them for their working life. The Employability Skills course is one of the ways we can do this."
"Our efforts will enable graduates to identify the skills and experiences they currently have, address any gaps and market themselves effectively, and will also contribute to economic and social growth in South East Wales."
Courses will run from November through to February. For more information visit www.cardiff.ac.uk/employability
