A student at Southampton Solent University has become the first female to graduate with a degree in stand-up comedy.
Hannah George was awarded a 2:1 at the university, which is the only institution in the world to offer a degree in the discipline.
The history of comedy, scriptwriting and ethics within comedy were amongst the modules studied by the 21-year-old from Ventnor, on the Isle of Wight.
Miss George, who is working on a solo stand-up show at the Edinburgh festival and would like to one day write for television, said that women are more accepted now in the once male-dominated comedy industry.
She said: "People are used to women in comedy nowadays and are not shocked when a woman actually has something to say and is funny with it."
Course leader and former stand-up Dr Chris Richie, said: "Hannah has done fantastically, is a great advert for women in comedy and thoroughly deserves her degree."
