A new report shows one in three workers lose sleep over financial worries, making it all the more important for graduates to find a job with a good salary to relieve some of the stress.
According to a survey of 1,900 employees by the Institute for Employment Studies, one in three think financial problems affect performance at work. One in three also suffer poor health because of their concerns.
The poll found a further one in seven people had made use of financial education programmes run by their employer in a bid to make them feel more in control of their finances.
Annette Cox, associate director at the Institute for Employment Studies, said: "Employees who report better financial well-being are more likely to report increased productivity. Now, more than ever, people are going to need help and support to better manage their finances."
She added that even employers offering their workers basic information about taking care of their money could make a big difference and it is important for the information to be available to those in the most need of financial advice.
