What will I be doing on this role?
You will work in the Analytical Strategy and Operations (ASO) labs at Moreton, where you will conduct regulated testing on pre-commercial drugs to ensure they meet necessary chemical and physical quality standards for use in clinical trials. Through your work, you will gain insight into how analytical functions at BMS integrate into the drug development process.
You will also have the opportunity to rotate into other departments, such as Oral Product Development (OPD). During this rotation, you will be in a hands-on laboratory role working alongside analytical leads to develop, write and qualify new analytical methods across a range of analytical techniques.
During your programme, you will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about end-to-end drug development and how analytical functions are integral in the success of medicine development.
- Learn how to work in a GMP (regulated) laboratory to prepare and analyse drug product and drug substance samples, including how to validate methods used for testing.
- Interact with other critical functional areas such as clinical supplies operations, quality assurance and regulatory.
- Gain increased knowledge of the analytical method and formulation development of new drugs as well as product requirements for each stage of clinical trials. You will also learn to develop and qualify stability indicating methods.

What skills do I need?
- Degree (BSc or equivalent) with significant Chemistry and/or analytical chemistry content.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with the ability to plan and execute scientific work and also communicate effectively
- A higher degree (e.g. MSc, MChem, MPharm), industry experience within a related environment and an understanding of safe laboratory practices are preferential, but not essential.
