What Will You Be Doing?
During our 20-month graduate technology & data scheme, starting September 2024, you will get the opportunity to work on industry-leading projects that will be developed across a range of core capability areas, all of which are integral to the daily operation, and longer-term innovation of our organisation.
You will start with an in-depth induction alongside all our graduates, giving you a broad overview of the Post Office structure and functions. You will then be placed in one of the Post Office’s key technology functions where you will rotate around different areas within this, giving you broad exposure and the chance to work out what you love doing. Our key functions are:
- Data: Helping drive the end-to-end process for how we capture, store, manage and analyse our data so that the insights from it can help us deliver better services for our Postmasters and Customers.
- Cyber Security: See the end-to-end security process of keeping our business safe by helping manage, monitor and continuously improve the security processes, technologies, and safeguards.
- CTO Office: Engineering and Architecture: Working in an agile environment to design and develop new, innovative software and technology platforms that help the business run more efficiently.
- Horizon IT: We’re undergoing huge technological advances in this area as we’re in the process of replacing Horizon (our in-house IT system) with a new, fit-for-purpose system. You’ll be involved in a range of sectors across Horizon IT including cyber security, product and project management, support & service, quality assurance, testing and governance.
- IT Service Operations: This is our core service, visible to our whole network meaning within this team you’ll gain an understanding of the entire workings of the Post Office. There are lots of different areas and pathways you can take across 4 different ‘IT stacks’ including service transition, analysis, service desk agent and change & release analyst.
Across the application process, we will help you work out which technology function will be best suited to you and will provide more information on each. At the end of the scheme, Post Office will continue to support and develop you in the team best matched to you.
