What type of things will I be working on?

On this 1-year graduate scheme starting September 2024, you will join a highly talented team of like-minded scientists and engineers working within one of our product divisions.  We offer a wide range of general and role-specific training opportunities and you will be supported by a mentor to help you gain knowledge and ensure your career gets off to a flying start.

During the scheme you will gain experience of the different ways physics and related technical skills are employed at Renishaw, with an emphasis on long-term research and development of future product platforms. Working alongside subject-matter experts, you will participate in all stages of product development.

By the end of the scheme, you will have developed awareness of the technical roles within the Renishaw as well as an idea of your own strengths and interests. You will have developed specialist technical knowledge, skills and background theory in areas such as:

• Optics
• Photonics
• Digital Signal Processing
• Systems engineering

What career opportunities are available?

Our Graduate scientists following the scheme will have gained all the skill need to progress through technical grades into senior and principal engineer roles. Based on your skills and interests, you can also progress further through technical and senior management levels. Indeed, our current CEO is a Physics graduate!

Where will I be working?

This role is based at one of our main sites near Wotton-under Edge in Gloucestershire. As Renishaw sites are located in semi-rural areas, applicants must ensure they have reliable means of transport to reach the site, as public transportation options will be limited. Alternatively, applicants should be willing to relocate to the local area.

What do I need?

We’re looking for candidates expecting a 2:1 or above (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related degree. 

Training and development is excellent so candidates with no experience but a keen interest in physics and optics will be strongly considered. If you are excited about the role but feel as though you don’t meet all the requirements, we would encourage you still to apply.
