Mizuho is not your typical financial institution.
Mizuho offer a fantastic opportunity to gain experience within a global corporate investment bank, working on real projects, whilst developing a strong professional network within a bank that prides itself on its inclusive, cooperative and friendly company culture.
We offer the best of both worlds—the feeling of a boutique work environment within a global organisation. Our steady growth in EMEA gives our people at all levels rewarding degrees of responsibility and a richer work experience than a small firm or an established giant could offer alone.
Summer Internship – Banking Departments
The Internship programme is a 10-week programme starting in June 2025. The aim is that successful interns will be offered a permanent position on the 2026 Mizuho Graduate Programme (commencing September 2026).
Your salary is highly competitive, in line with salaries offered by other London Investment Banks.
What will I be doing?
The Mizuho 2025 Intern Programme offers a unique opportunity to explore various functions within our organization. Successful candidates will gain experience in one of six key banking areas based on your preference: Credit and Middle Office, Capital Markets, Banking COO, Coverage, Solutions or DRSE.
Credit and Middle Office (C&MO):
- Gain insights into credit analysis, client operations, and KYC administration while developing an understanding of internal processes.
- Perform tasks such as workflow administration, client outreach coordination, reporting, and database maintenance, with exposure to Mizuho’s client base and products.
Capital Markets:
- Experience rotations in two of three business lines: Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Loan Capital Markets (LCM), and Equity Capital Markets (ECM).
- Participate in structuring, pricing, and market analysis for financial products across DCM, LCM, and ECM.
Banking Chief Operating Office (COO):
- Support Front Office Banking teams with strategy, business initiatives, and resource allocation while rotating across various business functions.
- Assist in project implementation, business case development, and preparation of presentations.
Coverage:
- Rotate across Corporates (ECC), Financial Institutions (FIG), and Financial Sponsors while engaging in client management and transaction execution.
- Build skills in client relationship management and leverage financial transactions for origination and execution.
Solutions:
- Learn the basics of financial modelling, credit ratings analysis, and valuation for corporate finance.
- Conduct sector-based research and assist in pitch preparation by synthesising analytical outputs.
DRSE (Derivative Risk Solutions):
- Support this client-facing team in originating and executing derivative solutions for interest rate and currency hedging.
- Assist in trade preparation, provide market research, and engage in pricing, compliance, and internal collaboration to ensure smooth execution.
Our interns will follow a structured programme of learning and development incorporating key technical skills, industry and client knowledge, product understanding, risk and conduct awareness and personal skills. This learning will be undertaken whilst also building knowledge and understanding of Mizuho, and the culture and behaviours that underpin the organisation.
