Renishaw offers exciting opportunities for placement students on a year-long immersion programme designed to develop ambitious, talented, and self-motivated individuals into skilled experts in their chosen field.
What will I gain from this placement year?
Each placement will involve working on live projects under the guidance and expertise of experienced colleagues. As well as gaining hands on experience in your chosen field, you will have the opportunity to connect with people working in the business and discuss your career ambitions and ideas with employees in similar roles.
What type of things will I be working on?
An industrial placement at Renishaw offers you the chance to learn more about the Industrial Design & Human Factors Engineering function within a global manufacturing organisation. Because the team serves the rest of the business with specialist advice, you will have the opportunity to work with several product divisions.
This role will involve working as part of a team as well as individually to problem solve while being involved in early-stage product design/development. You will gain exposure to industrial design and ergonomic techniques used at Renishaw, communicating your thoughts and ideas using a range of methods and tools including digital sketches, CAD and prototypes.
You will be working on a variation of projects over the year, including early concept design and related activities such as problem definition, idea generation, concept formation and selection. To achieve our sustainability goals, we are implementing the use of advanced methods and tools such as DfC, which you will gain exposure to in your design work and can help promote within the business.
A successful placement provides an excellent opportunity for you to be considered for a graduate scheme position in the future.
Where will I be working?
This role is based at our New Mills site near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire. As Renishaw is based in a semi-rural location, it is essential that applicants have their own form of transport or are willing to relocate to the local area. The site is around 25-30 minutes drive from Bristol so easily commutable by car.
What do I need?
Preferably, you are studying for a degree in Product/Industrial Design Engineering or equivalent discipline. You may also come from a human factors/ergonomics background.
