What type of things will I be working on?
This 12-month industrial placement, starting September 2025, offers you the opportunity to understand and interact with cutting-edge technology within a precision mechanical, electronic, and optical environment. It provides a chance to learn what a career in a modern manufacturing facility really means and offers excellent insight into how a manufacturing organisation interacts with the entire business operation.
You will be assigned relevant, value-adding projects and responsibilities related to your interests and the discipline you have studied. The entire placement will be spent within the Manufacturing Services Division, allowing you to fully integrate into the team and understand its purpose. Throughout your placement, you will be mentored and supported by our technical staff and senior managers.
Your placement will be within either our assembly engineering or component engineering functions, incorporating:
- Process Development
- Process Support
- Project Engineering
You will join a positive growth culture where both personal and technical development are encouraged and supported. You will gain significant exposure to effective soft skills such as decision-making, communication, and problem-solving, in addition to developing technical proficiency in areas such as process design, project planning, and performance analytics.

Where will I be working?
This role is based out of our Woodchester site in Gloucestershire. As Renishaw sites are located in semi-rural areas, applicants must ensure they have reliable means of transport to reach the site, as public transportation options will be limited. Alternatively, applicants should be willing to relocate to the local area.
Placements are also available in our site in Miskin, South Wales.
What do I need?
We’re looking for passionate engineers in a relevant Engineering or STEM discipline.
Training and development is excellent so candidates with no experience but a keen interest in engineering will be strongly considered. If you are excited about the role but feel as though you don’t meet all the requirements, we would encourage you still to apply.
