- Provide engineering material property advice, selection
- Provide laboratory support.
Opportunities are available for placements between 6 and 12 weeks.
What will I be doing?

- Analysis of customer returns or production issues occur where material characteristics appear to be the cause. Relevant tests and analytical techniques may be proposed that would help to identify the root cause of these problems and recommend solutions.
- Identification and analysis of unknown materials, failure types and causes using methods such as optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (EDX and EBSD), Raman spectroscopy, FT- IR and X-ray CT as well as other destructive analytical mechanical testing methods and equipment.
- Provide laboratory support to specialist materials science teams.
- Discuss any materials related issues, including metals and their alloys, polymers, ceramics, coatings and biomaterials that could be used to enhance current products or develop new ones.
