What type of things will I be working on?

On this 12-month industrial placement, starting September 2024, you will work on a variety of real engineering projects to gain an insight into how we develop and manufacture innovative new products using the latest technologies. You will be introduced to our mechanical design tools and have opportunities to learn about other areas of Renishaw, experiencing the day-to-day operation of a world class engineering company.

You will be mentored to develop your mechanical engineering skills and contribute to project development in areas such as:

• Mechanical design - including structure, material, stress, thermal and strength decisions

• Process design - how to assemble things effectively

• Dynamics - how to deal with vibration, shock etc.

• Manufacturing techniques - how to efficiently and accurately make things

• Design Verification - how to test new products and machines

• Mechanisms and control - how to make things move reliably

All of this work will be under the guidance of senior engineers who will help broaden and strengthen your technical and commercials skills.

Where will I be working?

This role is based out of one of our main sites in New Mills, near Wotton-under Edge in Gloucestershire. As Renishaw sites are based in semi-rural locations, applicants must have their own form of transport or be willing to relocate to the local area.

What do I need and how do I apply?

This industrial placement scheme is suitable for students who are required to undertake a sandwich placement as part of their degree course. We encourage applications from all STEM disciplines.

Training and development is excellent so candidates with no experience but a keen interest in engineering will be strongly considered.
