What type of things will I be working on?

This 12-month industrial placement, starting September 2024, offers you the opportunity to understand and interact in the design and development of innovative, world-leading products. You will see first-hand how physics principles are applied to real engineering problems while having the exciting opportunity to experience working with pioneering technologies.

Our Physics/Scientific-based industrial placement involves working on live projects under the mentorship of our senior engineers.  These projects could be at any stage of the product development cycle including:

• Initial technology invention and proof of principle
• Concept feasibility.
• Design and development.
• Engineering and maintenance of established product lines

You will be joining a positive growth culture, working alongside like-minded scientists and engineers, where both personal and technical development is encouraged and supported. You will gain awareness of the various technical roles within the Renishaw, building specialist technical knowledge, skills and background theory in areas such as Optics, Photonic and Systems engineering.

Where will I be working?

This role is based out of our main site in Wotton-under-Edge,  Gloucestershire. As Renishaw sites are based in semi-rural locations, applicants must have their own form of transport or be willing to relocate to the local area.

What do I need and how do I apply?

This placement scheme is suitable for students who are required to undertake a sandwich placement as part of their degree course. We're looking for students who are currently undertaking a relevant degree (or equivalent) incorporating Physics and Mathematics.

Training and development is excellent so candidates with no experience but a keen interest in engineering will be strongly considered. If you are excited about the role but feel as though you don’t meet all the requirements, we would encourage you still to apply.
